About This Spot

Walking into Holy Smoke BBQ in Hartselle feels like stepping into a warmly familiar corner of Southern hospitality. The inviting aroma of wood-smoked meats greets you even before you reach the door, setting a comfortable, unhurried tone that carries through the moment you settle in. Though the setting leans toward a casual grab-and-go vibe, there’s plenty of room to relax with friends or family, making it a spot where both planned meals and spontaneous gatherings find a welcoming home.

The atmosphere here is laid-back yet lively, reflecting a place that thrives on community and shared moments around the table. Whether it’s a group celebrating a family occasion or friends reconnecting over hearty plates, the rhythm feels easy and genuine—like a local kitchen where stories are seasoned alongside the brisket and pulled pork.

What stands out beyond the smokehouse allure is the way each bite reflects care and tradition, with sauces carrying just enough kick to keep you coming back for more, and sides that bring a comforting balance to the richness of the meat. The menu invites experimentation, whether in a sandwich piled high with tender brisket or a heaping plate that blends savory and spicy in every forkful.

Holy Smoke BBQ doesn’t rush its guests, honoring the simple joy of good food and good company. It’s a place where staff know your name, and the pace of service lets you breathe easy—even during busier moments. We had a family of 10 surprise birthday party, and Jackie was fabulous in helping with the surprise! The food is always outstanding. We ordered brisket, chicken, pulled pork, sausage, nachos, beans, and slaw. Oh, and Bart's spicy BBQ sauce is lip lickin' good! It's more of a to go place than a dine in, but there was plenty of room for our large group, a table full of teens, and A LOT of people waiting for their food. Excellent!

I believe the food us the best around the Hartsell area. The white is definitely the best. I recommend the place to my friends and family. I will be back.

Clean and friendly. The BBQ smell, as you walk in, is amazing. Pork stuffed potato was delicious (and huge). Lots of meat. And the spicy BBQ sauce is now my absolute favorite.

I stop by here every chance I get - most recently I was in for a casual business dinner with an old friend - and the food and service here are always impeccable. I've been telling people all over this great nation that Holy Smoke BBQ might be the best barbecue in the country - and every single plate I eat supports that claim. Great job y'all - as always! Try the brisket and Conecuh Sausage - save room for mac and cheese as well - and DO NOT miss the spicy BBQ Sauce!
